5 Easy Ways To Decorate Your Home

If you've just bought a new home, chances are good that you are looking to change up your decor style. Not everyone is a savvy interior designer, but we all want a space we can be proud of! The many options out there can make it hard to settle on a decor theme or style for your new house, but here are 5 things anyone (whether you love interior design or just wish you do), can do to elevate the decor in their space!

1. Peel and Stick Wallpaper

Accent walls aren't new in the game - they are an easy way to make a home feel more elegant. But if you're a person who doesn't like to paint, this might seem daunting for you. Moving the furniture, covering everything up, painting, letting the paint dry, moving everything back when you finish... it is very labor intensive.
Traditional wallpaper is also labor intensive and is generally frowned upon due to it's difficulty to change or remove.
That is where Peel and Stick wallpaper comes in! It offers a convenient alternative for an accent wall in a fraction of the time. It can also easily be removed with no damage to the wall underneath, so it is a great option for the indecisive among us, or those who frequently like to change things up. Have no fear, though - if you like to commit to a change once you've made it, this wallpaper will stay put until you are ready to remove it!
You can find peel and stick wallpaper in many different stores, but I love this one from Amazon!

2. Gallery Walls

I'll admit it; when I bought my home, the thing that stressed me out the most was hanging pictures. Mostly because, I knew that pictures should be hung, but just wasn't sure how to do it and make it look good.

Better Homes and Gardens suggests using tracing paper and a pencil to trace the shape of your photos and art, and then taping those onto the wall with a gentle, removable tape (like masking tape). This is great because it allows you to move everything, measure, and move again until you get your layout exactly the way you want it!
It's also advised to start in the middle or with your larger pieces and then work around those until you have achieved your desired result.

Tip: Use gold or black frames for an extra elegant vibe, or white frames if you want the space to feel more cozy.

3. Floating Shelves

Floating shelves are a great way to showcase lightly weighted items such as photos, clocks, knick knacks, or even plants! They look stunning, and give your home a more welcoming feel. You can place them above your bed, above your fireplace, in your living room, kitchen, or bathroom!

These shelves are fairly easy to hang and can be quite cost effective when compared to other kinds of shelving units. Be sure to follow the instructions when hanging and adding decor to your shelves to ensure that they are installed correctly and won't rip out of your wall over time.

4. DIY Headboard

Adding a headboard to your bed frames really elevates the look of the whole room! Many times, especially in guest rooms, we don't bother to buy expensive frames that come with headboards, and the overall look and feel of the room is impacted.
However, headboards can definitely be costly, and we don't always want to spend a lot of money in our secondary bedrooms. I saw this stunning headboard DIY video a few years ago and will never forget about it - it's easy, inexpensive, and looks very high end. Check it out below.

5. Plants

It's true - plants make your home feel like an interior decorator has been spreading her decor dust all over. The plant killers among us are trembling, but fear not. Artificial plants will work just as well, with a little makeover. Try this TikTok hack for repotting your artificial plants!

Whether you're working with real plants or fake ones, there are endless possibilities! You can hang your plants from the ceiling, place them on shelves or table tops, create a planting table, or even create an indoor plant trellis! This article has tons of ideas for plants as interior decoration.

So you see, it doesn't matter your budget or how talented you already are at interior decorating - there are easy things you can do to elevate your space!
